Minnesota Adventures

My week back home in Minnesota at my parents’ house was nothing short of amazing. It was literally was the definition of relaxation, and who wouldn’t want a full week of that? Add in having my mom there the whole time and doing some fun snow photoshoots and its the best thing I could have asked for.

Let’s start with how I actually get to Minnesota, because I think I am one of the only people who loves traveling this way πŸ™‚ Since I have lived in Chicago, I have explored all modes of transit to get back to my parents place and through them all, I love taking the train the most.

A lot of people probably have never taken an Amtrak train in their life, but for me its the best way to travel to my parents. The driving distance to the airport is round trip 3 hours for them to pick me up, versus the train dropping me off 15 minutes from their home… not to mention I don’t have to deal with security, small seats and confined spaces. Win!

The first day I was there, we got about a half a foot of snow which was soon accompanied by another few inches in the coming days. It was nonstop snow days – and who doesn’t love an excuse to be lazy inside and do nothing for once? Not to mention the frigid, and I mean fricken frigid, temperatures. The high one of the days I was there was -10. That’s insane.

With my mom now being retired, we hung out inside for days on end and honestly I wouldn’t have had it any other way. My mom is my best friend so getting to spend this much quality time with her was more than I could hope for – especially because I only get to see my parents a handful of times throughout the year.

The feeling of home is unlike any other. The coziness of the fireplaces, the home cooked meals, and the many many animals that my parents take care of. I am lucky enough to have grown up with my horses my whole life, they really are some of the most beautiful creatures I have ever encountered.

Home feels…

I headed back to Chicago a day later than expected due to the crazy snow storms across the area, and even then I was still 6 hours delayed! But I didn’t mind staying the extra time, I loved it.

So incredibly grateful to have such a loving and supportive family!
